Sébastien Rutés, né en 1975 à Annecy, est écrivain et maître de conférences.
Agrégé d’espagnol, il obtient son doctorat en 2003 à l’Université Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle avec une thèse consacrée aux stratégies de l’intertextualité dans l’œuvre du romancier mexicain Paco Ignacio Taibo II. Maître de conférences à l’Université de Lorraine, il enseigne pendant quinze ans la littérature latino-américaine et consacre sa recherche aux littératures de genre dans le monde hispano-américain, plus particulièrement au Mexique.
Désormais, il se consacre à l’écriture et à la traduction. Il a publié huit romans, notamment chez Actes Sud, Albin Michel et Gallimard. En 2021, avec Mictlán, il est lauréat du prix Mystère de la critique et du prix Marianne – Un Aller-Retour dans le Noir. Sébastien Rutés, born in 1975 in Annecy, is a writer and senior lecturer.
A qualified teacher of Spanish, he obtained his PhD in 2003 from the University of Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle with a thesis on strategies of intertextuality in the work of the Mexican novelist Paco Ignacio Taibo II. A senior lecturer at the University of Lorraine, he taught Latin American literature for fifteen years and devoted his research to genre fiction in the Spanish-speaking world, particularly in Mexico.
He now devotes himself to writing and translation. He has published eight novels, notably with Actes Sud, Albin Michel and Gallimard. In 2021, for Mictlán, he won the Prix Mystère de la critique and the Prix Marianne – Un Aller-Retour dans le Noir. His latest title is Le Syndrome du cordonnier, published by Gallimard in the ‘La Noire’ collection, 2025.
